Project 1:

House Moving, Barn Integration, and Basement Replacement

Project Overview:

A homeowner from Catawissa, PA reached out to us to move their house further from the road, improve the basement, and integrate an old barn (which had previously served as the original house) into the main structure. The goal was to create a more spacious and functional living area while preserving the barn.

Scope of Work:

  • Moved the house back from the road to create more space and improve the property layout.

  • Lifted the barn, moved it sideways and forward, and connected it to the main house.

  • Installed a reinforced concrete foundation for support.

  • Installed permanent steel beams to create an open basement layout.

  • Brought in approximately 5 feet of fill to establish the desired grade.

  • Constructed a driveway leading to a new garage located beneath the patio doors.

Outcome:

The successful completion of the project resulted in a more spacious and functional living space, seamlessly incorporating the barn into the main structure. The improved basement layout, enhanced outdoor living area, and accessible garage added both aesthetic and practical value to the property.

Project 2:

Replacing Failing Pier Foundation With Full Basement

Project Overview:

A homeowner in Hawley, PA, reached out for assistance with a cabin that had a failing pier foundation. The project involved lifting the structure to allow for the installation of a new full basement foundation.

Scope of Work:

• Lift the cabin to create space for the new foundation.

• Coordinate with foundation and excavation contractors as they removed the old piers and built the new basement.

• Lower the cabin onto the completed basement foundation.

Outcome:

The project was completed efficiently, with the cabin successfully placed on its new basement foundation. This upgrade provided the homeowner with a more stable foundation and additional space while ensuring the structure remained secure throughout the process.

Project 3:

Adding a Full Basement

Project Overview:

A homeowner in Jonestown, PA, wanted to double their living space and improve their home’s exterior appearance, transitioning away from the look of a double-wide prefabricated structure. The project included extending the basement under an existing sunroom, which featured walls made almost entirely of glass, and adjusting the home’s elevation for a more aesthetically pleasing design.

Scope of Work:

• Lifted the entire 68’ x 30’ structure, including the sunroom.

• Excavated to create space for the new foundation.

• Constructed a full basement beneath the original home and the sunroom.

• Lowered the home to align with the new design while maintaining structural integrity.

Outcome:

The homeowner gained a spacious, finished basement, effectively doubling their interior living space while maintaining the original footprint of the home. Additionally, the new elevation enhanced the home’s curb appeal. The project provided the benefits of a major addition at a significantly lower cost, maximizing both function and aesthetics.

Project 4:

Beautiful New Living Space by Adding a Daylight Basement

Project Overview:

A contractor reached out to us while building a large addition for a homeowner whose existing structure was sinking due to severe foundation issues. The house, originally built on sloping ground, needed a complete foundation replacement before any new construction could move forward. In addition to resolving the settling, the project also included re-grading the property and increasing the home’s overall living space.

Scope of Work:

• Lifted the home by seven feet to allow for foundation replacement.

• Excavated beneath the lifted home to create space for the new foundation and basement.

• Constructed a walk-out daylight basement, effectively doubling the home’s usable square footage.

• Extended the foundation to support the new addition.

• Re-graded the surrounding land to improve stability, drainage, and site accessibility.

Outcome:

The project successfully resolved the foundation issues while significantly enhancing the home’s functionality and living space. With a completely new foundation, expanded basement, and an extended footprint for the addition, the home is now larger, more stable, and built to last.

Project 5:

Foundation Wall Repair After Vehicle Impact

A car accident left a large hole in the foundation of a home, compromising its structural integrity. The homeowner needed a reliable solution to restore the foundation and ensure the safety of the house.

Scope of Work:

• Assessed the structural damage.

• Removed the damaged section of the foundation.

• Poured a new concrete wall.

• Applied waterproofing.

• Backfilled, graded, and seeded the area.

Outcome:

The foundation was restored, and the property was returned to its original appearance, providing the homeowner with a safe and stable structure.

Project 6:

Bank Barn With Bowing Walls

Project Overview

A centuries-old bank barn was experiencing structural issues due to a failing stone foundation. The instability extended to the framed end wall, which was also leaning. The owner wanted to preserve the barn while enhancing its functionality by deepening the basement to accommodate modern equipment.

Scope of Work

• Provided partial structural support to stabilize the affected section of the barn.

• Replaced the deteriorating stone foundation with a poured concrete wall and installed new center posts for added stability.

• Straightened the leaning timber end wall to restore alignment.

• Expanded the garage space beneath the barn for increased usability.

Outcome

The restoration resulted in a structurally sound and more functional barn, preserving its historical significance while adapting it for modern use. The owner gained additional space, improved stability, and ensured the longevity of this valuable piece of history.

Project 7:

Mobile Home Relocation Assistance

Project Overview:

During a scheduled mobile home move, a contractor ran into an unexpected issue: a power line was positioned directly above the home, blocking the crane from lifting it. With limited room to maneuver and time being a factor, they needed a quick workaround.

They reached out to us for support.

Our crew arrived on-site and used a jack-and-slide system to shift both sections of the double-wide out into the road. This allowed the crane to safely lift the home and load it onto trailers for transport.

The project was a good example of how coordination and the right equipment can help keep things moving when plans have to change on short notice.

Project 8:

Adding a Second Story For More Living Space

Project Overview:

A homeowner in Pine Grove, PA wanted to add a second story to their cabin to create additional living space. The unique challenge of this project was working around a large central chimney.

Scope of Work:

•Rigging and elevating the roof approximately ten feet above its original position, ensuring margin around the central chimney.

•Coordinating with the homeowner’s contractor, who constructed new floor and walls for the second story, and completed structural modifications.

•Replacing the roof atop the new second-story walls after construction.

Outcome:

The project successfully added a functional second story to the cabin, meeting the homeowner’s needs for additional living space. Despite the complexity of working around the chimney, the work was completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the property.
